Earlier this month the latest creature games came out on the portable and home console hybrid console. These games happen to be named Creature Sword and Creature Shield.
On the day of the games release approximately 3.5 million people throughout the world waiting for their pre-ordered copies were shocked when they discovered they had been sent the toy sword and shield set pictured to the left. They quickly turned to social media to post about their experience and after a few hours the hashtag #fakemon was trending.

Apparently the perpetrators created numerous accounts in the biggest 30 online selling
platforms and managed to accumulate more sales than anyone would have thought possible. It is believed that they managed to reach this number by marking the unreleased game as on sale and subtracted $35 from the $60 price tag. They also used targeted adds and exploited site algorithms to appear in front of possible customers as often as the real sellers.
There has been no update in the investigation into this incident and no comment from the developers of the game or the major online retail platforms.
